Deborah A. (Zimmerman) Geist

April 20, 1955 ~ November 3, 2022 (age 67) 67 Years Old


Deborah A. Geist – age 67 of Hays, Kansas died Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. 

     She was born April 20, 1955, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Wayne Thomas and Arlene (Braun) Zimmerman.  She married Joseph G. Geist Jr. and they later separated.

     Deborah was a CNA at the Hadley Hospital in Hays, worked at Wayne’s Auto Glass, and was a homemaker.  She grew up in Hays, and was a 1973 graduate of Hays High School.  She was always available as the family babysitter.  She enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo, going to the lake, fishing, and working the Lion’s Cubs demo derbies. 

     Survivors include her children, Chad Geist, Hays, KS; Wayne Geist, Hays, KS; Dawn Geist, Hays, KS; her former husband, Joseph G. Geist, Hays, KS; her grandchildren, Madison Geist; Jayden Stramel; Caleb Alcala; Ethan Alcala; Hannah Alcala; Paxton Driskill; her brothers, John Zimmerman, Hays, KS; Tom Zimmerman, Hays, KS; her sisters, Sandy Haselhorst and husband, Gary, Hays, KS; Stephanie Zimmerman and husband, Ron, Hays, KS; and Brenda Zimmerman, Manhattan, KS.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Christopher Geist; and her sister, Theresa Zimmerman.

     A  Memorial Service will be at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601 with Father Richard Daise.  Inurnment will be in Saint Anthony Cemetery, Schoenchen, Kansas.

     The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 P.M. Sunday, at the mortuary.  Memorials are suggested to the Geist family made payable to: Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays.
