Meredith Victoria "Vicki" (Harlan) Hallagin, age 75, of Ellis, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas. She was born on December 22, 1944 in Belleville, Kansas to James Harlan and Betty Kopsa. Her mother, Betty, later married Eldon Evert who raised Vicki from the age of 5 years old. Vicki graduated from Republic County High School in 1962 and attended four years of college at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas.

Vicki met Ronald Hallagin while attending Fort Hays State University. They were married on December 27, 1964 in Republic, Kansas.

She worked at Ellis Good Samaritan for over 20 years. She was very active with Arbor Day activities including the poster contest and had become known as the "Tree Lady". She started the 5th grade "Plant a Tree Program" in Ellis, Kansas. She was an active member of the Ellis United Methodist Church teaching Sunday School and participating in the Methodist Ladies church group and sewing quilts. Vicki collected a unique assortment of Mouse Figurines.

Vicki is survived by her husband, Ronald of Ellis; daughter-in-law, Mary Hallagin of Hays; and children, Tyler and Tanner Hallagin of Hays, Brianna (Hallagin) Hargis and husband Tom of Olathe, Kansas; Trenton Hallagin and wife Deanna of Silt, Colorado, and children, Cortney Hallagin of Littleton, Colorado; Teyton, Talon, and Trystan Hallagin of Silt, Colorado; Trevor and Tammy Hallagin of WaKeeney, and children, Kristi (Hallagin) Wood and husband Joe of Kansas City, Kansas; two great granddaughters, Lillian Wood of Kansas City, Kansas and Addison Hargis of Olathe, Kansas; brothers and sisters, Lorraine Evert and Carl Hoskins of Parsons, Kansas; Randy and Betsy Evert, and Ron Evert of Belleville, Kansas; Tommy and Patsy Harlan of Spring Branch, Texas; Meridi (Harlan) Holmstrom of Sugar Land, Texas; Pamela (Harlan) Creel, Mike and Sue Harlan of Houston, Texas; two uncles, Bob and Phyllis Kopsa of Chester, Nebraska and Don and Elaine Kopsa of Craig, Colorado; one aunt, Darlene Jensen of Courtland, Kansas as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Vicki was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Evert, fathers Eldon Evert and James Harlan, and son Troy D. Hallagin.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Ellis United Methodist Church. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ellis United Methodist Church or the Republic United Methodist Church.
