Obituary

Anselma “Selma” Janet (Giebler) Cook, age 76, of Hays, Kansas passed away April 7, 2020 in her home. She was born August 26, 1943 at St. Anthony hospital in Hays, Kansas, to Alvin F. and Amelia (Windholz) Giebler. She married Francis Samuel Cook at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays on June 12, 1965.

Selma attended grade school in Catharine, KS, graduated from Girls Catholic High School in 1961.  Selma and Francis lived many years in Goodland, KS, she loved working for the Sherman County Day Care Center, and the Goodland Regional Medical Center and  as a dietary aid, and a cook for USD 489 at Wilson Elementary and Felten Middle School, but most of all she enjoyed taking care of her grandsons. 

Survivors include her husband, Francis of Hays; sons, David J. Cook Amarillo, TX; and Robert F. Cook of Kansas City, MO; Grandsons Jon D. Cook (Kenzie) Hays, Ks; and Brett Ross (Nicole) of Erie, KS; two great grandsons, Westyn and Hunter Cook, two great granddaughters, Serenity and Addison; her siblings Diann Dreiling, Hays, JoAnn Thiessen, Wichita, Alvin Jr. Giebler, Oklahoma City, OK and John Giebler of Norman, OK. 

She was preceded in death by Alvin F. and Amelia (Windholz) Giebler. 

Services are pending and will be announced at a later date when the gathering restrictions due to the Covid 19 virus have been lifted.
