Obituary



Rosetta Aschenbrenner, 75, of Ellis passed Saturday, October 3, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born July 27, 1945, to Clarence and Lillian Schmidt in Hays. Rosetta attended Ellis High School. On November 25, 1961, Rosetta married Robert Aschenbrenner at St. Marys Church in Ellis.

Retiring from Enersys in July 2019 after many years of employment, Rosetta took joy in spoiling her grandkids, playing bingo and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs and KU basketball teams.

Survivors include four children: Rose (Jeff) Hertel, Ellis; Ricky Aschenbrenner, Wichita; Rhonda (Evan) Hadley, Hays; and Roy (Holly) Aschenbrenner, Ellis. Siblings include Harold (Myrtle) Schmidt, Opelousas, La; John (Twila) Schmidt, Tina (Dave) Keller, and Kenny (Kim) Schmidt, all of Ellis and Marlene Schmidt of Stockton, Kansas. Grandchildren include Kim Robinson, David Bieker, Jessica Brazda, Kyle Hadley, Sarah Pletcher, Rebecca Bittel, Hannah Aschenbrenner and Hayden Aschenbrenner. Surviving great-grandchildren are Hadlee, Jace and Jett Brazda, Emma Bieker, Camilla Robinson and Drake Pletcher.

Rosetta was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, and two sisters: Betty Barenberg and Darlene Schmidt.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on October 17, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorial visitation will be 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM with a rosary service at 1:30 PM all at St. Mary's Church.
