Jean Yanda

Obituary



Jean K. Yanda, age 66, of Ellis, Kansas passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She was born May 22, 1955, in Haven, Kansas to Kenneth and Hazel (Wilson) Morris. On August 5, 1978, she married Joseph Yanda in Oakley, Kansas.

Jean taught school at several locations including pre-school at St. Mary's School in Ellis and serving as a para at the Hays Area Children's Center. She was a member of St. Mary's catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, and VFW Auxiliary all of Ellis. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, arts and crafts.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph of Ellis; a son, Dean Yanda of Ellis and daughter-in-law Emily Yanda of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Jessica Smith and husband Jon of Baltimore and Amanda Cross and husband Casey of Hays; as well as two grandchildren, Ayden, and Ella Yanda.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepfather, Bernard Morris and a twin brother, Dean Morris.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. Mary's catholic Church in Ellis. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
