Hilary Dominic Dreiling was born in Victoria, Kansas, April 10, 1929, to Herman P. and Pauline (Windholz) Dreiling. He married Florence Fern (Naiman) Dreiling, June 21, 1962, in St. Josephs Church, Hays, Kansas. She preceded him in death on Friday, February 1, 2009.

He had bachelors, masters, and specialists degrees from Fort Hays State University. He also did graduate work at Wichita State University. He was a member of the Newman club, Half Century Club, and Phi Delta Kappa.

He taught at Quinter and Marion high schools for six years, and was a school principal for Salina, Claflin, and at Garden City for 20 years. Prior to being principal, he was the school district business manager at USD 457, Garden City, Kansas.

He served in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. His first duty was aboard a ship, the USS Atlanta CL 104 for one year, as an office clerk he was then transferred to a naval administration building, Commander Western Sea Frontier, Treasure Island, San Francisco, California for his remaining three years, prior to his honorable discharge, as a Petty Officer.

He was a former member of the Victoria VFW and the Hays American Legion, the Claflin Lions Club, and a number of school administrative organizations.

Survivors include a brother, Julius H Dreiling, Victoria; Two sisters, Tina Kuhn, Victoria and Leona Hatfield, Hays, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; A sister, Ada Pfeifer, and three nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Saint Joseph's Church, Hays, Kansas. Visitation will be at the Church from 9:30 to 10:00. Private inurnment will be at a later date in the Basilica of Saint Fidelis Church Cemetery, Victoria.

Memorials are suggested to the Saint Joseph Church, or to the Basilica of Saint Fidelis Church Cemetery Fund, Victoria, in care of Brocks-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine St, Hays, Kansas 67601.
