Virgil Stadelman

Virgil Lee Stadelman, age 71 of Hays, died Tuesday, March 10 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He was born on August 5, 1937 in Hays to Joseph and Sarah (Orth) Stadelman. He was a Hays High and Fort Hays State University graduate. He married Tillie (Steiner) in May of 1970 in Hays.Virgil was a retired maintenance worker with Fort Hays State University. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Council #1325 3rd degree Knights of Columbus and a Bishop Cunningham 4th degree Assembly # 282. He is survived by his brother, Gilbert Stadelman of Wilson; two nephews, Zachary Stadelman of Hays, Gregory Stadelman of Ft. Worth; step-sons, Bernard Kaiser of Mesa, AZ., Kenneth Kaiser of Whittier, CA; step daughters, JaNelda Butler of Wichita, Laveda Heider of Harrisonville, MO. He is also survived by several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie, a brother, John, a sister, Clara, and a step-son, Vernon Kaiser.Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday 9:00 - 9:30 A.M. A parish vigil service will be on Friday at 6:00 followed by a combined St. Joseph Council # 1325 and Bishop Cunningham Assembly # 282 Knights of Columbus Rosary service at 6:30 P.M. all at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays.Memorial contributions are suggested to the Dreiling Schmidt Cancer Center at Hays Medical Center.
