Vernon Dome

Vernon Joseph Dome, age 75 of Wichita, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the St. Francis Via Christi Medical Center in Wichita. He was born May 18, 1933 in Pfeifer, Kansas to Joseph and Veronica (Befort) Dome. He married Faye "Delores" Durm. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2006.He was a retired City of Wichita Employee working in the Parks and Maintenance Department. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Wichita. Vernon was a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Navy.He is survived by a step-son, Mark Barrow of Wichita; a step-daughter, Becky Sanders of Jefferson City, MO.; a step granddaughter Amber Barrow of Wichita; a step great-grandson, Kaj Gillespie of Wichita; five sisters, Ruby Karlin and Fran Hunter of Hillsboro, OR., Virginia Kisner of Hays, Arlene Karlin of Great Bend and Shirley Gregory of Asheville, N.C.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph.Funeral services will be at 2:30 P.M. on Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pfeifer. Burial will be in the church cemetery.Visitation will be 5 P.M. - 8 P.M. on Monday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays.A parish vigil service will be at 6:30 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions are suggested to Holy Cross Charities or for Masses.
