Obituary



Thomas Alfred Lewand Jr. age 82, of Ellis, Kansas passed away Friday, May 6, 2022 at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas. He was born May 10, 1939 in Denver, Colorado to Thomas Alfred and Margaret (Youngster) Lewand. He graduated from Bethany college and earned a Masters from Fort Hays State University.

Thomas was a long-time music teacher having taught for 4 years at Kensington, 13 years at LaCrosse and 3 years at Sedgwick. After his teaching career Thomas worked as a salesclerk at Von Maur and Dillards. Thomas enjoyed antiques, musicals and especially operas.

He is survived by a son, Thomas "Tony" Lewand of Houston, Texas and a daughter, Tara Frey of Ellis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements in care of Keithley Funeral Chapel in Ellis.
