Obituary



Theresa Ann Gottschalk, age 75, of Hays, Kansas, passed away February 2, 2021, at Hays Medical Center after a short battle with cancer. She was born June 20th, 1945 to Joe C. Stecklein and Catherine (Wasinger) Stecklein in Hays. She attended Hays High School and on February 6th, 1965 she married the love of her life Ronald J. Gottschalk in Hays.

Theresa lived her entire life in Hays, Ks. living for many years in her "Little Cottage" after the passing of her husband Ronald Gottschalk on January 8th, 1991. She worked several years at Travenol and Enersys until opening her own cleaning business. She lived her life for her 3 boys, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchild. She loved her computer, crafts, and slot machines and talking on the phone to her children and grandchildren. She had a very kind, ornery spirit about her. She loved hanging with her sisters and going shopping, church, and out to eat. You could pick up the phone or stop in anytime and she would always have a smile on her face, a giggle and a laugh. We will miss her genuine kind-hearted spirit very much.

Theresa is survived by her 3 boys, Tim Gottschalk (Maryl) Ellis, Ks., Tom Gottschalk, North Platte, NE., Dan Gottschalk, Hays, Ks; Grandchildren, Jerome Gottschalk (Jenni) Ellis Ks, Kimberly Gottschalk Nashville, Tn., Kyle Gottschalk, Georgetown Ky., Megan Gottschalk, Cumberland Gap, TN., Nick Gottschalk, Hays, Ks., Alex Gottschalk, Hays, Ks.;Great Grandchild, Julian Gottschalk; Sister, Charlene Weigel, Gorham, Ks; a sister-in-law, Linda Stecklein of Kansas City as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Gottschalk, her parents, Joe and Catherine Stecklein Brothers, Richard Wasinger, Elmer Stecklein, Donald Stecklein, Ronald Stecklein, and Leroy Stecklein. Sisters, Delores Dreher (Jim) and Rose Koerner (Melvin).

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be Friday 5 PM - 8 PM and Saturday 9 AM - 9:30 AM all at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

A combined parish vigil service and rosary will be Friday at 7 PM at the funeral chapel.
