Terrence Haynes

Terrence “Bear” Haynes, age 54, of Hays, Kansas passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born June 18, 1971 in Denver, Colorado to Thomas Haynes and Karen Lacy. He graduated from Bishop Machebeuf Catholic High School in Denver in 1990.

Terry worked for various oil companies where he was known to be an exceptional derrick hand most recently working with Discovery Drilling. Terry enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing his guitar and drums and was an avid dog lover.

He is survived by his father, Thomas of Hays; a son, Terrence Haynes II of Hays; two daughters, Kiran Haynes of Washington State and Juliet Haynes of Hays; and a sister, Marie Haynes of Kansas City, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen; a brother, Tim Haynes; and his stepmother, Lora Gallegos-Haynes.

Celebration of life services will be 1:00 PM Monday, December 29, 2025 at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory-Brock’s Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

Memorial contributions are suggested for his children with donations made payable to Marie Haynes.
