Suzanne Marie McDaniel, 59, Ellis, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at her home. She was born Dec. 23, 1949, in Sapulpa, Okla., to Gordon and Anna (Jetter) Logan. She graduated from Bethany College with a bachelor's degree in math education and from Fort Hays State University with a master's degree in secondary education. She married David R. McDaniel on July 6, 1974, in Ellis. She was a math and computer teacher in the Palco-Damar-Zurich USD 269 district for 30 years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and served on the church council. She also as a member of Alpha Rho Sorority and Ellis Public Library Board. Survivors include her husband, of the home; a sister, Carole Kuhns and husband, Michael, Fairfax, Va.; a brother-in-law, George McDaniel and wife, Debbie, of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Beverly Lemon and husband, Keith, Madrid, Iowa; four nephews, Michael Kuhns II, Fairfax, Matthew Kuhns and wife, Betsy, Madison, Wis., Jacob Kuhns and wife, Jessica, Loveland, Colo., Chad Lemon, Madrid; and two nieces, Megan McDaniel, Des Moines, and Jessica Buckalew and husband, Kevin, Dallas Center, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Diane Logan. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church, Ellis; burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ellis. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday, both at the church. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church or Ellis Public Library in care of Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis.
