It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Shirley Munson Pfeifer born in Hays, Kansas, on August 5, 1929, who passed away on August 12, 2022, at the age of 93, leaving family and friends to celebrate her life.

Shirley is survived by: her husband, Wilbert; her children, Scott and Annette; her step-children, Rick (Karen); Jan; Dale; and Lynne (Rich). She was blessed with her grandchildren, Sarah; Ross (Hannah); Katherine (Terry); Chrisi; Mike and Leah; and her great grandchildren, Grant; Luke; and Benjamin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward J. and Arbutus (Wise) Wilson; her brother, Jerry; her husband, Robert; and her daughter, Diana.

Shirley graduated from Ft. Hays State University where she was also a sorority member. She loved her 30 year teaching career at USD 489 in Hays and contributed her time, treasure and talents to many organizations.

She loved her family and animals, and enjoyed visiting with friends, tap dancing, singing in the St. Joseph choir and serving as a Eucharistic Minister, delivering Meals on Wheels, reading, art, playing Bridge and pinochle.

Shirley's family will receive guests from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 13th and Ash Street, Hays, Kansas, with Father Rich Daise officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials made payable to: Humane Society-High Plains or St. Josephs Catholic Church in care of the mortuary.

The family extends special thanks to all of her caregivers at Homestead Assisted Living of Hays and Hays Medical Center.

Services are entrusted to Clines-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.
