Roy Schaffer

Roy Michael Schaffer, age 60, of Hays, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Hays Medical Center. He was born on December 22, 1949 in Hays to Michael C. and Juanita A. (Urban) Schaffer. He graduated in 1968 from LaCrosse High School.He was a mechanic and farmer. Roy enjoyed Drag Racing and he was an avid car enthusiast. He graduated from IBM Computer School in Wichita and North Central Technical College of Hays in Computer Business. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Liebenthal.He is survived by his parents of LaCrosse; three sons, Greg Schaffer of Hays, Brian Schaffer of Kearney, MO. and Chad Schaffer of Neosho, MO.; two daughters, Sonya Schaffer of Borger, TX. and Crystal Schaffer of Satanta, KS.; two brothers, Leland Schaffer of Liebenthal and Harvey Schaffer of Great Bend, KS.; a sister, Donna Herrman of Hays and 12 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a special friend, Mary Peregoy.Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Liebenthal. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Liebenthal.Visitation will be Sunday 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine, Hays. Visitation on Monday will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church.A parish vigil service will be at 7:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Contributions are suggested to St. Joseph's Church in Liebenthal or to the Sisters of St. Agnes Altar Society.
