Rosemary Pfeifer

Rosemary "Rosie" Pfeifer, age 86, of Ellis passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 11, 1939, in rural Ellis County to Fidelis and Adeline (Befort) Engel. Rosemary graduated from Girls Catholic High in 1957.

On September 28, 1957, Rosemary married Ernest Pfeifer, Sr. in Munjor, Kansas at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Together they built their life raising their family on a farm north of Ellis Kansas. Ernest preceded Rosemary in death in July 2025 after 67 years of marriage. Rosemary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella St. Gilbert Circle, Ellis, Kansas.

Rosemary is survived by her six children, sons, Ernie Pfeifer, Jr. (Sherry), David Pfeifer (LuAnn), Jerry Pfeifer (Nancy), and Jim Pfeifer (Linda) all of Ellis, Kansas and daughters, Christine Gist (Mike), Hays, Kansas and Sandy Rome (James), Ellis, Kansas. Twelve grandchildren, Ernest Pfeifer, II (Ann), Lynn Leiker (Landon), Jessica Klaus (Joe), Sarah Gist, Danielle Flinn (Todd, Dylan Pfeifer, (friend, Brandi), Nicole Brown (Mitch), Scott Pfeifer (fiancé, Hailey), Cole Pfeifer (Lanie), Lexie Hawkins (Avery), Derek Pfeifer (Brooklyn), and Alyssa Rome; sixteen great-grandchildren; and sisters, Therese Haas (Tom) and Sandy Wilson (Gary) both of Hays, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fidelis and Adeline Engel, sisters, Dorothy Mermis, Ruby Remy, Lorene (Renie) Kuhn, Benita (Petie) Rohr, brother, Fidelis Engel Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 703 Monroe St., Ellis, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 8:30 to 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A rosary will be said at 10:00 am. Inurnment will follow at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
