Rose Linenberger, 94, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Via Christi Village Assisted Living in Hays. She was born October 12, 1919 in Munjor, Kansas to Carl and Anna (Younger) Stecklein. She married Ray Linenberger on September 27, 1938.
She was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved her flower and vegetable gardens, and worked with her husband, Ray, to build and decorate family homes. She enjoyed traveling, cooking dinners and spending time with family, doing crafts, crocheting, knitting, and sewing. She was a gifted seamstress and taught many young girls in the community to sew. She made vestments for priests in the Catholic diocese.
She was a member of Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society, Christian Mothers and VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include: two sons, Tom Linenberger and wife, Deonne, and Alan Linenberger; two daughters, Margaret Ruder and Rosella 'Sally' Bechard and husband, Bob; a brother, Rich Stecklein; grandchildren Mark Ruder, Greg Ruder, Tom Bechard, Chad Bechard, Bridget Linenberger Gwinnett, Theresa Linenberger Fisher, Lisa Linenberger-Stewart, and David Linenberger; 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Ray, her husband of 46 years; her parents; brothers Frank and Henry Stecklein; sisters Josephine Gross, Mary Resley, Evelyn Skala and Agnes Maupin; grandson Darin Bechard, and son-in-law Elden Ruder and a daughter-in-law, Donna (Windholz) Linenberger.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brock's Funeral Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.
A VFW Ladies Auxiliary service will be Monday at 6:15 followed by a D of I rosary at 6:30 PM and a parish vigil service at 7:00 PM.
Memorials are suggested to St. Josephs Food Pantry and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family by guest book at www.keithleyfuneralchapels.com or emailed to keithley@ruraltel.net
