Ronald 'Ron' Shubert

Ronald 'Ron' George Shubert , age 78, passed away on May 5, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. He was blessed to have his loving wife and 4 children at his side at the time of his passing.

His citation included: "With utter disregard for his own safety, Lance Corporal Shubert, armed with only an M-79 grenade launcher, fearlessly advanced directly toward enemy positions. At the end of his military service, Ron returned to Plainville, Kansas and married Bonita 'Bonnie' K. Saindon. They had attended grade school together in Zurich. Ron and Bonnie were united in marriage on August 31, 1968 at St. Anns Catholic Church in Zurich, KS.

Ron worked as an electrical lineman for the local power company for 34 years in Plainville, KS where they settled to start a family.

He and Bonnie raised 4 children, who looked at him as their hero. Ron had a love of hunting, camping, and fishing that he shared with his wife and kids for many years.

Upon retiring, he and his wife traveled the USA and Canada for 8 years in their 5th-wheel camper having many adventures and making cherished memories. Their favorite adventures were their 4 months in Alaska and winters in Arizona.

After their travels, they moved to Munjor, Kansas, where they resided for nearly 10 years.

In September of 2020, they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma.

Ron is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of 53 years; his children, Mindy Geist (Derek) of Edmond, OK, Jason Shubert of New York City, NY, Dustin Shubert (Sarah) of Hays, KS, Ryan Shubert (Bridgit) of Hays, KS, and niece, Jill (Shubert) Heil (Scott) of Kansas City, MO.
