Rodney Augustine

Rodney James Augustine, age 57, of Ellis, Kansas passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado. Rodney was born April 6, 1968, in LaCrosse, Kansas to Francis and Edna (Depperschmidt) Augustine. He married Kala Leiker on May 9, 1992. She preceded him in death on May 18, 1994. He then married Rebecca Scheck and later divorced.

Rodney attended school in Ellis and worked as a pumper in the oilfields for over twenty years. He loved fishing as often as he could and had a fondness for all animals and especially his fur baby, Alaska. Rodney also treasured his time with his family and close friends.

He is survived by his mother, Edna Augustine of LaCrosse; a daughter, Chandra Augustine (Taylor Hammond) of Ellis; sisters, Brenda Urban (Steve) of Hays, Wanda Augustine of Hays and Loretta Akins (Orlin) of Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis.

A Celebration gathering will be Saturday, January 31, 2026 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Keithley Funeral Homes-Ellis Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS 67637. Lunch will follow at the Ellis Knights of Columbus Hall.
