Robert "Bob" Franklin Bunker, age 88, of Hays, Kansas, passed away August 26, 2010 at St. John's Nursing Home, Hays, Kansas. He was born November 6, 1921 in Ellis, Kansas to George F. and Agatha (Wolf) Bunker. Bob married Freda B. Glass on November 18, 1939 in Ellis. She preceded him in death in January 1977. He later married Vernena C. Deutscher on July 24, 1977 in Hays, Kansas. She preceded him in death February 27, 2010.Robert was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. He worked at Boeing in Wichita as an aircraft mechanic. He moved back to Ellis to work for many years at O'Loughlin Motor Company as a service manager and shop foreman. Robert later relocated to LaCrosse, Kansas to partner in ownership with Al Staab in a Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Cadillac dealership of Staab Bunker Motors. They won many dealership awards from General Motors. When the business sold, Robert moved to Hays and owned a used car business until his retirement. He was also involved in farming enterprises in both Ellis and Trego counties.Robert is survived by daughter-in-law, Janice L. Bunker; three grandsons, Tyler Bunker and wife Dawn, Ellis; Benjamin Bunker and wife, Jenny, Ft. Worth, Texas; and Daniel Bunker, Topeka; two great granddaughters, Desiree Bunker and Ashleigh Bunker, Ellis and a great grandson, Austin Bunker, Ft. Worth, Texas; his sister, Rosemary Wickham and husband Robert; a brother, Thomas G. Bunker and wife, Darlene, of McCammon, Idaho; as well as many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gerald R. Bunker, infant daughter, Arlene Bunker; four brothers, Edward, William George and Eugene; and nephews James Bunker, Greeley, Colorado and Thomas E. Bunker, Hays. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 30th at Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine, Hays. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ellis. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of service on Monday all at the funeral chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or donor's choice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
