Richard Dean Leighton, age 65, of Tucson, Arizona formerly of Hays passed away February 22nd in Tucson. He was born March 15, 1944 in Quinter, Kansas to Samuel B. and Caroline (Bieker) Leighton. He graduated in 1962 from Victoria High School. He was a security guard at Securitas Security Company in Tucson.Richard is survived by a brother, Lawrence Leighton and wife Ruby of Norman, Oklahoma; a sister, Karen Jane Belden and husband William of Lenexa, Kansas; two nephews, Tim Leighton of Charlotte, NC and William Belden Jr. of Kansas City, Mo.; three nieces, Tammy Leighton of Norman, OK., Tonya Moddelmog and husband Craig of Fort Collins, CO. and Kris Belden-Adams and husband John of Olathe, KS.; a great nephew, C.J. Moddelmog of Fort Collins, CO. and two great nieces, Elizabeth Ann Moddelmog of Fort Collins and Lily Adams of Olathe, KS.He was preceded in death by his parents; Paternal Grandparents, Grover and Mae (Hair) Leighton; Maternal Grandparents, Frank and Emma (Herman) Bieker and one nephew, Kevin Leighton.Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, March 12th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hays. Inurnment will be in the St. Joseph's Cemetery.There will be family present from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Thursday with a parish vigil service at 6:30 P.M. all at Brock's North Hill Chapel Funeral Home 2509 Vine, Hays.In memory of Richard memorial contributions are suggested to be used according to the wishes of the family.
