Obituary
Richard A. "Dick" Yost age 75, of Hays, Kansas died Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born January 17, 1945, in Russell, Kansas to Alois "Lum" and Florence (Jacobs) Yost. He was the father of four children when he married Joanne (Hill) on September 3, 1982, in Hays, Kansas and they raised their seven children.
He grew up in the Gorham, Kansas area and attended Fairport Grade School in Fairport, Kansas. He was a 1963 graduate of Gorham High School and attended Fort Hays State College and was on their football team.
Richard was employed in the oil field in Russell county and Santa Maria, California for several year. He then became a Trooper for the Kansas Highway Patrol for 12 years. After 19 years as a Loss Control Agent for Insurance Planning of Hays, he retired in 2010. He assisted his wife Joanne on international tours for Hays Travel for 27 years and traveled to all seven continents and many countries.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, served on St. Joseph Parish Council, a member of Hays Rotary Club, a board member of The Gorham State Bank, an avid golfer and Chiefs fan, and enjoyed his children and grandchildren's sporting activities.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne, of the home; two sons, Jeff Yost, Shawnee, KS; Greg Yost and wife, Candace, Hays, KS; four daughters, Niki Rohr and husband, Scott, Gardner, KS; Debbie Trevett, Wichita, KS; Kimberly Crough, Salina, KS; Jodi Steltz, Hays, KS; two brothers, Jack Yost and wife, Gina, Russell, KS; Chuck Yost and wife, Terri, Gorham, KS; one sister, Marcia Blundon and husband, Glen, Russell, KS; one sister-in-law Mary Herwehe, Muncie, IN; 13 grandchildren, Tucker Trevett, Kristonna Spearow (Jon), Konner Kramer, Meghan Moland (Andrew), Braden Dreiling (Ashley), Savannah Yost, Kassidi Yost, Shyanne Yost, Chandler Yost, Dakota Yost, Bryson Rohr, Preston Rohr, Jaden Rohr; two great grandchildren, Logan and Kendall Moland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bradley Evan Yost; and one brother, Doug Yost.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 20, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, Kansas. The mass will be live streamed on, Marcia Yost Blundon FACEBOOK PAGE, for the public to view. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.
A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, at Clines-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, at Clines-Keithley Mortuary of Hays and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Thursday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Thomas More Prep-Marian High School.
