Minnie Ashbaugh

Minnie Ashbaugh of Ellis, age 94, passed away Tuesday, February 16th at the Hays Good Samaritan Center. She was born on April 15, 1915 in Ellis County, Kansas to Walter and Eve (Sauer) Haneke. She graduated from Ellis High School in 1935.She was a homemaker. Her memberships included Ellis United Methodist Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary where she served as president and she was an avid bowler for over 50 years.Minnie is survived by two sons, Dwayne Ashbaugh and wife Karen of Westminister, CO. and Steve Ashbaugh of Ellis; two daughters, Sandra Herman and husband Augie of Ellis and Dixie Seibel and husband Jack of Peoria, IL.; two sisters, Luetta Harrell of Salina and Donna Henderson of Almena, KS.; a brother, Donald Haneke of California; a sister-in-law, Karen Ashbaugh of Ellis; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a son, Darwin Ashbaugh; two grandsons in infancy; four brothers, Harold, Delwin, Ralph and Raymond Haneke and two sisters, Corene Newton and Verna Phelps. Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the Ellis United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ellis. Visitation will be Friday 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th, Ellis. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ellis United Methodist Church or the Hays Good Samaritan Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
