Mildred Kutina

Mildred Barbara Kutina, age 87, rural Ellis, passed away Tuesday, October 19th at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell. She was born on February 15, 1923 in rural Ellis County to Jacob and Maye (Smith) Henrickson. She graduated from Hays High School in 1941. She married Alfred Raymond Kutina on October 17, 1942 in Bloomington, IL. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1978. She was homemaker, farmer and a CNA at the Ellis Good Samaritan Center for 13 years. She enjoyed spending numerous hours quiltmaking, embroidery, crocheting and knitting. There was never a time that she was not working on some handcrafted project. She was a member of the Ellis United Methodist Church and the Ellis VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by a son, Douglas and wife Mandy of McPherson; five daughters, Viola Burns, Patricia Patee and husband Elvin "Leroy", Ramona North and husband William "Bill" all of Ellis, Cecilia Everson and husband David of Allenspark, CO., and Carla Dreiling of Hays; a brother, Robert Henrickson of Stillwater, OK; two sisters, Joyce Meske and husband LeRoy G. of Kansas City, KS. and Evelyn Armbrister of Hays; thirteen grandchildren, Annette Ellis and husband Mark, Dean Burns and wife Darlene, Terry Patee and wife Dena all of Ellis, Sharon Pfannenstiel and husband Wade of Hays, Shawn Kutina, Erin Kutina, Brooklyn Kutina, and Austin Douglas Kutina all of McPherson, Tyler North and wife Jean of Albuquerque,,NM., Amber North and Vanessa North of Hays, Renee` Dreiling of Hays, Patrick Dreiling of Tulsa; ten great-grandchildren, Darin Myers and wife Kelly of Hays, Krista Fabricius of Ellis, Jacob Burns, Rylee Burns and Joseph Burns all of Ellis, Ty Patee and Trace Patee of Ellis; Jayden Pfannenstiel and Brant Pfannenstiel of Hays and Indy Dreiling of Hays; three great-great grandchildren, Jordin and Jayce Myers of Hays and Trippton Anderson of Ellis. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Tallif, Lester and Jakie Jr.; two sisters, Ruth Eickbush and Vera Kroeger; and son-in-law Ralph Burns Jr. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday at the Ellis United Methodist Church with burial following services in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th in Ellis. Friday visitation will be 12:30 P.M. until service time at the church. Contributions are suggested to the Ellis United Methodist Church or the Cancer Council of Ellis County.
