Michael Wasinger

Michael Paul (Mike) Wasinger, age 53 of Hays, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Monday, October 4 at his home. Mike was born on May 21, 1957 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Hays.He was a 1975 graduate of Thomas More Prep. Mike then attended North Central Technical College in Beloit, KS where he completed a plumbing program. He especially enjoyed working as a heavy equipment operator. Mike is survived by his mother, Agnes (Nitzie) Wasinger of Hays, a brother Tom of Ellis, and a sister Mary Jo Heath and husband Don of Salina; a niece, Elizabeth Heath of Lawrence; and a nephew Kevin Heath and wife Meagan of Palo Alto, CA and a grand niece Alexandra Heath of Palo Alto, CA. Mike is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and good friends.Mike was preceded in death by his father Meridith Wasinger of Hays, KS in May of this year.Mike, although very quiet, was a kind, sensitive, and loving man who will be dearly missed.A rosary service will be at 9:30 A.M. on Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hays. A mass will be held following the rosary at 10:00 A.M in the church. Cremation has taken place with Inurnment following services at St. Joseph's cemetery.Memorials can be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or Thomas More Prep High School.
