Lyle Charles Tenbrink

Lyle Charles Tenbrink, age 87, of Spearville, Kansas, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Locust Grove Village in LaCrosse, Kansas.

He was born on November 5, 1938, in Spearville to Harold and Eulalia (Helfrich) Tenbrink. On November 24, 1962, he married Serena Gross, and together they were blessed with three children: Kim (Lonny) McGuffey, Carol (Dennis) Kranz, and Gary (Misty) Tenbrink.

Lyle enjoyed a 40+ year career at the grain elevator with Right Co-op in Spearville. He was an avid golfer and hunter, a proud KU Jayhawks basketball fan, and loved teasing his grandchildren. Known as a jokester and prankster, he brought joy and laughter wherever he went.

Despite his ornery streak, Lyle had one of the kindest and biggest hearts. His bright smile and warm presence will be deeply missed.

A man of faith, Lyle was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Spearville and a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus with St. Leonard’s Council #1539.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Serena Tenbrink; his children and their spouses; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Larry (Mary) Tenbrink; and sisters, Sr. Diane Tenbrink and Sheila (Tim) Riter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Eulalia Tenbrink.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 100 South Main Spearville, KS 67876, interment will follow the services in the parish cemetery. Lyle's family will receive guests from 9:30 to 10:30 AM prior to services at the church. A Knights of Columbus rosary will begin at 10:30 AM.
