Louise Herl

Louise B. Herl, age 84 of Hays, passed away on Monday, November 23rd at Hays Medical Center. She was born February 22, 1925 in Hodgeman County, Kansas to Jacob Ralph and Laura Mae (Cox) Brown. She married Edmund "Eddie" Herl on June 12, 1946 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hays.Louise attended Fort Hays Normal School and was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse. She was also a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays.She is survived by a son, Gary Herl and wife Pam of Hays; two daughters, Carol Burgardt and husband Les of WaKeeney and Paula Manteuffel and husband Craig of Hays; two sisters, Jean Winter of Burdette, Kansas and Myrna "Ike" Kiser of Delphos, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie on January 7, 1996, her parents; three brothers, Dwight, Bob and Donnie Brown; and a sister, Janelda O'Brien.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 27th at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Burial will be in the Walnut Valley Cemetery in rural Barton County, Kansas.Visitation will be on Thursday 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and Friday 9:00 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. at Brock's North Hill Chapel Funeral Home, 2509 Vine, Hays. A parish wake service will be at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.Memorials are suggested to the "Christ Pilot Me" fund or to the Walnut Valley Cemetery fund.
