Obituary



Loran J. Jayne, 74, of Ellis, KS, passed away October 12, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society of Ellis. Loran was born on April 11, 1946, to George and Katherine (Croute) Jayne. While growing up, his family lived in many different places, with Florida being his favorite. On May 28, 1966, he married Gloria Schoenberger in Ellis, KS.

Loran was a man of many trades, but he is remembered as a self-employed driver for King of the Road. Together with Gloria, they were able to travel around the United States delivering campers. He loved playing his guitar, singing, bowling with friends, and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with all of his family.

Loran is survived by his daughters, Angela (Dave) Hickey and Sonya (Bryan) Gottschalk, all of Ellis, KS; his brother Larry of Kingman, KS; grandchildren Shelby (Aaron) Herl of Hays, KS, Sidney (Lane) Carpenter of Overland Park, KS, and Cody Hickey of San Diego, CA.

Loran is preceded in death by his wife Gloria, his parents, and his brother Eddie.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 24, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Inurnment will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors courtesy of the Ellis VFW Honor Guard. Arrangements in care of Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS 67637.
