Kenneth Brungardt

Kenneth L. "Ken" Brungardt, age 61, of Hays passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Lifecare Center in Burlington, Kansas. He was born on August 23, 1948 in Hays to Alvin J. and Emma (Lang) Brungardt. He married Peggy A. Haynes on August 1, 1968 in Hays. He was a US Army Veteran stationed in Korea and Fort Hood, Texas from 1968 - 1971. He worked for Midwest Energy for 26 years prior to retirement. Kenneth was a life member of the Hays VFW, a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the Knights of Columbus St. Mary's Council 6984.He is survived by his wife Peggy of Hays; a son, Kenneth S. Brungardt and wife Jill of Lawrence; two daughters, Michelle A. Weigel and husband Arthur "Butch" and Emily A. Custer and husband Zachary all of Hays; two brothers, Wayne J. Brungardt of Hays and James Brungardt of Russell; nine grandchildren, Jeff, Brandon and Chris Weigel, Faythe, Jackson and Lawson Brungardt, Wesley Koehn, Melanie and Xander Custer. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.His parents preceded him in death.Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hays with Military Honors by the Hays VFW. The Patriot Guard will serve as escorts.Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday and 8:30 A.M. - 9:15 A.M. on Wednesday all at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays.A Knights of Columbus Council 6984 rosary will be at 6:30 P.M. followed by a parish vigil service at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kenneth L.
