Judy Annette "Snook" Murphy, age 51, of Hays, died Sunday, April 19 at the Hays Medical Center. She was born February 27, 1958 in Topeka, Kansas to Richard D. and Marie (Kass) Snook. She married her high school sweetheart, Mark Alan Murphy, on July 2, 1976 in Hays.Judy was a nursing instructor at the North Central Kansas Technical College Nurse Education Department since 2003. Judy worked her entire career serving others through nursing, including for 16 years at the Russell Regional Hospital and four years as the Director of Nursing of the Plainville Hospital. Her love of nursing ever unfulfilled, she also worked nursing shifts on a part-time basis in addition to teaching. In 2007, she completed her Masters Degree in Nursing Education through the University of Phoenix. She is survived by her husband Mark of the home, four sons, Travis and wife Amanda of Chicago, Illinois, Tyler and wife Amanda of Blanchester, Ohio, Tane and Becky of WaKeeney and Tragen of the home. Survivors also include her adopted mother, Mildred Snook of Hays; three brothers, Jerry Snook of Sebring, Florida, Tom Snook of Honolulu, Hawaii and Steve Snook of Thomaston, Georgia; two sisters, Janet Havlas of Raymore, Missouri and Renee Maday of Glendale, Arizona; and five grandchildren, Ryan Alexander, Aleina Kay, Kaycee Jo Annette, Tristan David and Rory Alan.She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard Snook, II.Memorial services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church in Hays followed by a lunch at the St. Nicholas Parish Hall. Arrangements are in care of Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays.Memorial contributions may be sent to the Judy Murphy Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
