Judith
Tway-Cross
October 5, 1943 – March 29, 2026
Judith Ann Tway-Cross passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on March 29, 2026. She was born Judith Ann Hopper on October 5, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, to Francis Amos and Roberta Jeanne (Wyatt) Hopper.
Judi spent part of her early childhood in Ellis, Kansas, where she lived with Norman and Teddy Smith. At the age of nine, she moved to Colorado to be with her mother and brothers. She graduated from Englewood High School in Englewood, Colorado, in 1961. Following high school, she married Gordon Tway, and together they had two sons, Blaine and Brett. She later returned to Ellis, Kansas, where she built both her home and her career. Judi worked for many years at Golden Belt Savings and later dedicated over 20 years to the Ellis School District 388, serving as District Secretary. In 1989, she married Dan Cross, and together they made their home in Ellis, Kansas.
Family was the most important part of Judi’s life. She loved fiercely and supported her loved ones with unwavering devotion. She cherished every moment spent together and especially looked forward to having her family home for the holidays. Judi proudly carried on the family tradition of preparing elaborate meals for her children and grandchildren, filling gatherings with warmth, laughter, and delicious food.
Judi found great joy in the outdoors, particularly while camping at the lake. She enjoyed fishing, riding the jet ski, and relaxing on the pontoon. She was also known for her competitive spirit and loved playing cards with family and friends, bringing lively energy and good-natured rivalry to every game.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Cross of Ellis, Kansas; her sons, Blaine Tway of Aurora, Colorado, and Brett Tway of Lucas-Luray, Kansas; her daughters-in-law, Janet Tway of Anderson, Indiana, and Rose Tway of Ellis, Kansas; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Ray III) Thompson of Lawrence, Kansas, Jordan (Brianna) Tway of Carmel, Indiana, Joshua Tway of Emporia, Kansas, and Ashleigh (Brigham) Chen of Indianapolis, Indiana; and six great-grandchildren: Henry Tway, Ray Thompson IV, Savannah Tway, Rylan Thompson, Amelia Tway, and Nolan Chen.
