Joyce W. Dreiling

 Joyce W. Dreiling, age 81 of Hays, Kansas died Monday, February 23, 2026, at Via Christi Village - Hays.

Joyce liked to dabble with many hobbies including but not limited to fishing, painting, leather work, writing, jewelry making, genealogy, sewing, music writing, and gardening.

After retirement she liked to travel. She was an avid Elvis fan and got to visit Graceland. She loved having her little dogs as companions. And she loved watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She even drove the FFA group to National convention in Indianapolis.

She also loved Coca-Cola and chocolate. Was an Avon saleswoman, and also enjoyed playing bingo in her later years at Via Christi Village in Hays.

Family was the center of her life, and if you asked any of her grandchildren they would tell you she made the best fried chicken ever. Her upside down pineapple cake was a family favorite, too.

She is survived by her children: Matt (Sherri) Montgomery of Hoskins, Nebraska; Will (Pam) Montgomery of Hays, Kansas; and Linda Steckline (Richard Weinhold) of McAlester, Oklahoma. Sister: Wilda Wise and brother: Ralph Wood. Grandchildren: Dalton Montgomery, Matthew J. (Abbie) Montgomery, Shy (Riley) Chace, Amanda (Tyler) Kruse, Ashley (Josh) Visocsky, Laura (Dalton) Davis, Luke Montgomery, Thomas (Nicole) McElroy, Sarah Brundige, Chris Brundige, and Bonnie (Paul) Travis. Great-grandchildren: Emery, Melanie, June, Levi, Ava, Elliott, Finley, Loki, Aldous, Peter, Almathea, Sufjan, and one more on the way. Together with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded by her parents: Woodrow Wilson Wood and Evelyn McLaughlin Wood, Sisters: Phyllis Jackson and JoAnn McClurkin.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Brock's Chapel, 2509 Vine Street Hays, Kansas 67601. Viewing and Visitation will be from Noon to service time at the Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow the services in Saint Catherine Catholic Cemetery, Catharine, Kansas.
