Joel R. Zimmerman

Joel R. Zimmerman, age 72, of Hays, passed away Monday, May 17th at Hays Medical Center. He was born on December 7, 1937 in Chicago, ILL. to Celly and Barbara (Werth) Zimmerman. He graduated from Schoenchen High School. He married Rose Ann Werth on August 16, 1958 in Antonino, KS.He worked in the Aircraft Industry and then in Computer Marketing. He was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Church, 3rd Degree Schoenchen Council 4166 Knights of Columbus and the 4th Degree Bishop Cunningham Assembly Knights of Columbus. Joel also enjoyed woodworking and fishing.He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann Zimmerman of the home; two sons, Timothy and wife Tina and Thomas and his wife Tina all of Hays; three brothers, Kenneth of Hays, Cary and Jude both of Florida; three sisters, Faye Ann Geschwentner of Ellis, Jeanette Kraft of Emporia and Helen Godfrey of Salina. Four grandchildren, Courtney, Colyn, Nicholas and Samantha Zimmerman, also survive him.He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Terrence Zimmerman. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday at St. Nicholas of Myra Church in Hays. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.Visitation will be Wednesday 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and Thursday 8:30 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. all at Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine, Hays.A Bishop Cunningham 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard will be Wednesday 6:00 P.M. - 6:30 P.M. A parish vigil service will be at 6:30 P.M. followed by a combined 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Rosary.Contributions are suggested to St. Nicholas of Myra Church or for Masses.
