Jack Reed

Charles A. "Jack" Reed, age 77, of Hays, Passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Hays Medical Center. He was born on July 9, 1933 in Hays, Kansas to Charles Syd and Hattie (Swank) Reed.Jack retired from the US Air Force serving nearly 40 years. During his military service he served in Korea, Japan and other areas throughout the world. Upon retirement he worked as a handyman and woodworker. He was an avid model airplane builder and collector. He was a lifetime member of the Hays VFW and American Legion.He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Younger of Hays and Ruth Gaschler of Ellis; his significant other of 14 years, Arlene Schlyer of Hays and her children, Dan McNeill of Gorham and Kathy Morton of WaKeeney and her grandchildren, Janae Ryan of Brownell, Derrick Morton of Goodland, Devin and Dustin McNeill of Hays and 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Tim Reed of Garland, TX; four grandchildren, Jeremy Hoard of Hutchinson, Jennifer Hoard of Hays, Jon Younger of Hays and Ryan Gaschler of Ellis. 5 great grandchildren also survive him. His parents and a granddaughter, Stacey Gaschler, preceded him in death.
