Irene Kroeger

Irene Viola Kroeger, age 83 died in her sleep Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar, Lawrence, KS of complications from a stroke. She was born March 17, 1926, in Zurich, KS, the daughter of Frank and Johanna (Keller) Armbrister. She married Arthur Adair Kroeger in October 1946 in Ellis. He died August 11, 2002.She was a homemaker and teacher of business education at Ellis High School; many current teachers in USD 388 learned to type from "Mrs. Kroeger." By gifting her body to the University of Kansas Medical Center, even in death, she remains a teacher to a future generation of doctors.Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Mills, Rolla, MO; two sons, Glen, Zurich and Melvin, Lawrence; a daughter, Linda Kroeger, Hays; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis. Inurnment will be at a later date in Mt.
