Henriette
Houfek
Nov 7, 1944 — Jun 17, 2026
Hays, Kansas
Henriette Marie Houfek, known to everyone as "Yeyette," was born on November 7, 1944. in Providence, Rhode Island, and passed away on June 17, 2026, in Hays, Kansas, at the age of 81.
Yeyette was a woman of deep and gentle faith. A devout Roman Catholic, she lived her life with humility, tenderness, and a quiet devotion to serving others. Her faith was not only something she professed, but something she practiced daily through kindness, hospitality, and love.
She was a tireless and skilled homemaker and mother. She brought care, order, beauty, and devotion to the daily work of family life, giving generously of herself in ways both seen and unseen. That same spirit of care extended beyond her family. Yeyette had a gift for making others feel welcome.
Whether through a meal, a conversation, a thoughtful gesture, or the warmth of her home, she was the perfect hostess. She understood that hospitality was more than entertaining; it was a way of caring for people, honoring them, and making them feel loved.
Yeyette was also a knitter of extraordinary skill and loved to help other knitters, many of whom were dear friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Dave, and by their three adopted children: T.D., Alan, and Margo. Her family was central to her life, and the love she gave them will remain her lasting legacy.
Yeyette will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her generous heart, her devotion to Mary and the Catholic faith, her remarkable gifts as a knitter, and the grace with which she served those around her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, welcome, and quiet faithfulness.
