It is with profound sorrow and hearts full of love that the family of Gregory John Wiesner announces his peaceful passing on March 27, 2026, in the comfort of home. He lived a life marked by devotion, sacrifice, and extraordinary love — a true servant of family, country, and friends.
Greg graduated from Ellis High School in 1966 before being drafted to serve in Vietnam, where he devoted a year to his fellow soldiers as a combat medic — tending to the wounded with steady hands and an unshakeable heart. He was recognized for his bravery in the face of enemy and returned home adorned with honors that reflected his extraordinary courage and service. He later married his beloved Sheri Feldkamp in the home they worked so hard to build together — exchanging vows in front of the fireplace — and built a life and family that became the center of his world. Sheri preceded him in death on December 3, 2015.
After returning from Vietnam, Greg put his medical experience to work in a psychiatric ward, continuing to serve and care for others until he was honorably discharged. True to the man he always was, he went on to work hard — as he knew so well — building a life defined by perseverance and dedication. Greg was an avid lover of animals and music — a natural storyteller who never hesitated to say hello to anyone who crossed his path. Playing cards, sharing a good meal, or simply stopping by were all the joy he needed. Family and friends were the cornerstones of his world; helping, caring, and providing for those around him was simply innate to who he was. A teddy bear at heart, disguised as a rugged cowboy. Whether tenderly caring for a helpless kitten or keeping watch over his two-ton cows, Greg's warmth never wavered. You could often spot him rolling down Main Street at 10 mph in his little red pickup, with his faithful companions Sammy or Osita riding proudly alongside. Nothing beat riding his motorcycle along the beautiful plains of Kansas alongside his dear friends — wind in his face, open road ahead, and good company by his side. So much to say, so little space to do so — Greg's life and love were a true blessing to many.
He is survived by his son, Ryan Wiesner; his daughter-in-law, Johana Wiesner; his stepson and stepdaughters, Karla Weimer, Kevin Fox, and Karen Fox; his stepson and daughter-in-law, Martin Weimer and Connie Fox. His grandchildren, Isabella Wiesner, Ivana Wiesner, and Chiara Wiesner; his step-grandchildren, Anna Weimer, Kayci Weimer, Derek Fox, Austin Fox, Kyle Fox, Jared Knoll, Aron Knoll, and Dylan Gilbert; his great-grandchild, Henry Wiesner; his step great-grandchildren, Aliya Rojas and Cooper Fox. His brothers and sisters, Mary Frances Bauer, James Wiesner, Laura Mae Schoenberger, Bernie Wiesner, and Kathy Wiesner; his godson, Duane Schoenberger; and a host of cherished family and friends whose lives he forever enriched.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sheri Wiesner; his parents, Margaret and Joe Wiesner; his brothers, Leonard Wiesner, Harold Wiesner, and Tommy Wiesner; his sister, Jeannie Keller; and his stepson, Kris Fox.
