Ernest Sauer

Ernest R. Sauer, age 83, of Ellis, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney. He was born July 2, 1927, in Trego County to Joseph and Carolina (Wagg) Sauer. He was a 1945 graduate of Ellis High School. He was a farmer and stockman. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Ellis. Ernest served on the church council and was treasurer for many years. He was also a member of Golden Belt CO-OP board and the Glencoe Township board. Survivors include a sister, Eleanor Grout, Winterset, Iowa; four nieces, Bonnie Caldwell and husband, Gordon, North Port, Fla., Claudia Royal and husband, Denny, Winterset, Iowa, Debbie Hazen and husband, Steve, and Linda Pfeifer and husband, Jim, all of Ellis; his great-nieces and nephews, Michael Orange and wife, Julie, Tallahassee, Fla., Kristen Rorabaugh and husband, Skyler, Shawnee, Lindsey Royal, Fargo, N.D., Chris Hazen, Dylan and Cole Pfeifer, all of Ellis; his great-great-nieces and nephew, Savannah Orange, Tallahassee, Jaysa and Chase Rorabaugh, Shawnee; and a brother-in- law, Jack Fox, Ellis. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Wilma Fox, and a brother-in-law, Claude Grout.
