Elsie Stegman

Elsie Marie Stegman, age 79, of Hays, passed away Tuesday, December 29th at St. John's of Victoria. She was born on November 1, 1930 in Pfeifer, Kansas to Anthony and Regina (Jacobs) Jacobs. She was a 1948 graduate of Schoenchen High School. Elsie married Felix Stegman on September 7, 1948 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pfeifer, Kansas. She was a homemaker, co-founder and former member of the Hays Gospel Singers and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.Elsie is survived by six daughters, Sharon Rollins (Phil) of King George, VA., Shelly Harrell of Hays, Pam Reitmeyer of Kansas City, KS., Dorrene Wahlmeier (Cam) of Wamego, KS., Faye Wiesner (Ron) of Hays, Tracy Augustine (Jeff) of Ellis; five sons, Gregg Stegman (Michelle) of Nettie, WV., Brad Stegman of Great Bend, Wes Stegman (Missy) of Beaverton, OR., Mark Stegman of Hays and Brent Stegman (Kelly) of Olathe; a brother, Wayne Jacobs of Pfeifer; seven sisters, Darlene Sanders of Hays, Wilma Kuhn of Salina, Eva Jacobs and Delores Unrein of Broomfield, CO, Rosaline Unrein of Strasburg, CO., Isabelle Schukman of Aurora, CO. and Carol Moeder of Arvada, CO.; 34 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix on August 16, 1993, her parents, three sons, Stan, Eldon and Bruce Stegman, a brother, Marvin Jacobs and three sisters, Lucille Dreher, Theresa Bieker and Cecilia Jacobs.Funeral services will be at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, Jan. 1st at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pfeifer. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.Visitation will be on Thursday 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and on Friday 9:30 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. all at Brock's North Hill Chapel Funeral Home, 2509 Vine, Hays.A Parish Vigil will be held at 5:30 Thursay followed by a rosary service at 6:00 P.M. all at the funeral chapel.Memorial contributions are suggested to Holy Cross Charities.
