Elsie Rose
Davis
January 7, 1937 – January 26, 2026
Elsie Rose (Bollig) (Dreher) Davis, age 89, passed away on January 26, 2026, in Golden, Colorado. She was born on January 7, 1937, in Lakin, Kansas. Elsie spent much of her childhood in Liebenthal, Kansas, and later made her home in Arvada, Colorado.
She married her first husband, Bill, her next-door neighbor, in 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Liebenthal. In 1974, she married her second husband, Chuck, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Arvada.
She had a lifelong love of sports. In high school, she captained a volleyball team of 14 girls at
La Crosse High School, leading them to a first-place victory at Hays Sports Day in 1955. She also enjoyed watching football and baseball and was an avid bowler, earning many first-place trophies with her team over the years. Elsie especially cherished attending the sporting events of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Elsie also loved spending time playing games with family and friends. She enjoyed Pinochle and Hand and Foot, but especially Scrabble. She was rarely without a jigsaw puzzle in progress.
She is survived by her children: Lucille (“Cindy”) (Dreher) Smith and son-in-law Gene; Dennis Dreher; Kenneth Dreher; and Charles Davis and daughter-in-law Chantal. She is also survived by her sisters, June Miller and Shirley Proffit; her brothers, Jerry Bollig and wife Edith; and Anthony Bollig and wife Ruth.
Elsie was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren—Branden, Melissa, Matthew, Heather, Ashley, Kaitlen, and Caden—and nine great-grandchildren. She is also fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob L. Bollig and Renilda A. (Hermann) Bollig; her first husband, William J. Dreher; her second husband, Charles C. Davis; and her sons, William (“Billy”) Dreher and Thomas Dreher.
A brief graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Liebenthal, Kansas, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 12:00 noon.
Elsie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
