Elden Ruder

Elden F. Ruder, age 71, of Hays, passed away Sunday, October 17th at the Hays Good Samaritan Center. He was born on April 28, 1939 in Hays, Kansas to Edward and CeCelia (Thyfault) Ruder. He graduated from St. Joseph's Military Academy in 1957. After high school he attended Bailey Technical College in St. Louis receiving a mechanics certificate. He married Margaret A. Linenberger on April 12, 1958 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hays.Elden worked as a mechanic for 18 years and a car salesman for 25 years with different dealerships but always with Ford Motor Company during his 43-year career. He was a volunteer fireman for the city of Hays for 17 years and he served as a trustee with the Kansas State Firefighters Association. Elden was also a member of the High Plains Long Rifle Association, NRA. and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Hays; two sons, Mark Ruder and wife Kim of Austin, TX. and Greg Ruder and wife Cynthia of Lake Lavon, TX; four grandchildren, Tanya, Rachel, Kristin and Brittany; a great grandchild, Brylee and a brother, Duane Ruder and wife Mary of Hutchinson.His parents preceded him in death.Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will follow services in St. Joseph's Cemetery.Visitation will be Tuesday 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. and Wednesday 9:00 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. all at Brock's North Hill Chapel ~ 2509 Vine ~ Hays, KS. 67601.A parish wake service will be Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home.Contributions are suggested to the Capuchin Province of Mid-America or to Hospice.
