Duane Staab

Duane A. Staab, a resident of Kersey, Colorado, formerly of Hays, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on May 5th, 2024. He was born on December 8th, 1955, in Hays, Kansas, to Alfred and Rosie (Kreutzer) Staab. On September 12th, 1981, he married the love of his life, Jolene (Hageman) Staab. Together they were blessed with four children: Susanna, Jessica, Jonathan, and Kimberly.

Alongside his family, he ran the Ellis County Ambulance Service for 20 years. In 1994, Duane and his family relocated to Kersey, Colorado, where he devoted nearly three decades of his life to serving as an ICU nurse. A devout Catholic, Duane was a cherished member of the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Greeley, Colorado. In his spare time, Duane enjoyed indulging in intellectual pursuits, particularly listening to political radio shows and engaging in spirited debates.  

Duane will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Duane is survived by his wife, Jolene Staab of Kersey, CO; three daughters, Susanna, Jessica, Kimberly Staab of Kersey, CO; son, Jonathan Staab Cheyenne, WY; grand-daughter, Izzy Staab Cheyenne, WY; brothers, Alfred (Susan) Staab Jr. of Westminster, CO, Jeffrey (Michele) Staab of Clovis, CA and sister, Karen Priefert  of Littleton, CO.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 21, 2024 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Catharine, Kansas with Fr. Earl Befort O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Inurnment will take place in the church cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Catherine Catholic Church in Catharine, KS.
