David Lee Miller, age 68, of Hays, KS passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at his home. He was born April 5, 1958, in Hays, KS to James & Mary "Aggie" (Pfannenstiel) Miller. David graduated from Thomas More Prep High School in Hays, KS in 1976. He then attended & graduated from Fort Hays State University where he was in the ROTC program. After graduation he served as an MP in the Army Reserves with a rank of 2nd Lieutenant. David had various jobs throughout his life. He enjoyed being an over-the-road truck driver for a short period of time. He then went to work as a commercial painter in Topeka, KS. After multiple years in commercial painting, he decided to move back to Hays to work at a slower pace doing contract home painting.
When David was younger, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also played sports growing up. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan. David was a devout Christian. His true passion was knowing the Lord and living through the Word. He read and studied scripture daily. He lived a very simple life and had a very giving heart helping family and friends with unconditional love. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
David is survived by his parents, James & Mary "Aggie" (Pfannenstiel) Miller of Hays, KS; His siblings, Bruce & (Lynne) Miller of Broken Arrow, OK; Steve Miller of Lee's Summit, MO; Phil & (Trish) Miller of Omaha, NE; Mary (Miller) & Craig Ewert, together with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Greg Miller, Grandparents, Uncles & Aunts, & Nephew. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Thomas More Prep- Marian High School or Hays Catholic Charities.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Brock's Chapel, 2509 Vine Street, Hays, Kansas 67601. Viewing and visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral chapel. David will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery - Hays at a later date.
