Starts at 10:00 am (Central time)
Daniel Lee Grover, age 76, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Hays Medical Center, surrounded by his children. He was born on September 10, 1949 to Clarence C. & Bonnie (Barnes) Grover in Great Bend, KS. He attended school in Great Bend.
Daniel married Norma Jean Brauer on February 7, 1970. They later divorced. To their union came Clarence and Kimberly.
Daniel worked in a lumber store out of high school and a meat processing plant in Great Bend.
On January 10, 1976, Daniel married the love of his life, Lenora Louise (Quade) Grover. To their union came Heather and three bonus children, BJ, Monnie & Eric. Lenora preceded him in death on November 23, 2021. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on January 10, 2026.
Daniel worked in the oilfield as an Open Hole Perforator for over 38 years. His career took him and his family to Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma and back to Kansas. He worked many long, extensive hours away from home to provide for his family. He instilled his strong work ethic and discipline in his children. Daniel was a man of few words with a very ornery personality. He loved his dogs more than his family, most times. He was an avid television watcher and could be seen through his dining room windows late into the night, glued to the set.
Daniel is preceded in death by his Loving Wife, Lenora; his grandparents; parents; mother and father-in-law; brother-in-law, Robert; step-sister, Gwenny; brother-in-law, Leroy; sister-in-law, Barbara; sister-in-law, Alberta and many fur-babies throughout the years.
Daniel is survived by his children Clarence Grover of Ashby, NE; Kimberly Corsair (Ward) of LaCrosse, KS; and Heather Grover (Jim) of Hays, KS. Bonus Children BJ Schmitt of Hays, KS; Monnie Shearer (Doug) of Hays, KS; and Eric Schmitt (Darcy) of Hays, KS; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, with another to be born in August, 2026; and his beloved dogs Baby Girl and Bic. He is also survived by his siblings Mike, Sylvan (Sharon) and Cheryl; half-siblings Tawana (Todd) and Mavis (Dana); and step-siblings Penny, Sheena, Rick and Todd; Brothers-in-Law Doug (Dorothy) and Brian (Patti); many nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory – Brock’s Chapel at 2509 Vine St. in Hays, KS. Interment will be at 12:15 p.m. at the Rose Valley Cemetery north of Hunter, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the wishes of the family made payable to Monnie Shearer, HaysMed Hospice or the Humane Society of the High Plains.
