Clarence Steckline

Clarence Steckline, age 73, of Hays died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at his home in Hays. Clarence was born June 4, 1936, in Ellis County, Kansas, to John and Margaret (Spies) Steckline. He married Norma Jean Dreiling on June 7, 1956, at Severin. She died December 9, 2007. He was a farmer and worked in the oil fields. He was a member of the St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church.Survivors include his sons, Larry of Hays, J R and Debbie of Bazine, Ks.; daughters, Veronica Leiker and Dorothy Urban and her husband, Patrick, both of Hays; 13 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and three step great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin and a sister, Dorothy.Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ellis. There will be a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine street. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 until 7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Contributions are suggested for Masses or according to the wishes of the family.
