Charles 'Bill' William Rupp

Obituary



Charles William "Bill" Rupp, age 80, of Hays, Kansas, passed away at his home in Hays on Wednesday, June 10, 2020. He was born June 19, 1939 in Hays to Edward and Rose (Groff) Rupp. He was married to Patricia "Patty" Leiker for 40 years.

Bill owned and operated Ideal Refuse for many years with his wife Patty. Bill was proud of his work and that he implemented the use of Polycarts, Trash Bins and Roll Offs in Hays. He was especially proud of his accomplishments even though he had a 7th grade education. He enjoyed working on his 1957 Chevy Bel Air and tinkering around.

He is survived by his wife, Patty of Hays; sons, Jeff Rupp (Lisa) of Sharon Springs, Kansas, and Jason Leiker of Houston, Texas; daughters, Ruth Archambo (Hubert) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Betty Rupp (Pat Deck) of Wichita, Kansas, Christine Steele (Scott) of Tribune, Kansas and Jenn Havens (Alex) of Salina, Kansas; a brother, Richard Rupp of Hays; sisters, Betty Chew (JR) of Hays and Patty Rogers of Kansas City; 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Francis "Hammie", Thomas Joseph, Edward Jr., and Robert Rupp and a sister, Delores (Rupp) Froehlich- Gross.

Funeral Services will be Monday, June 15, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine Street, Hays, KS. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 14, 2020 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of The High Plains, St. Judes Hospital or the Hays Community Assistance Center.
