Catherine "Katie" Ptaschek

Catherine "Katie" Ptaschek, of Ellis, age 92 passed away Monday, February 22nd at the Trego-Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney. She was born on October 26, 1917 in Ellis County, Kansas to George and Rosa (Becker) Lang. She married Nathaniel Ptaschek on June 9, 1936 in Ellis. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1986.She was a homemaker and farmers wife. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella both of Ellis.Katie is survived by two sons, Edward Ptaschek and wife Lorrie of Keller, TX. and children, Cindy, Dwayne and Lesa, and Larry Ptaschek and wife Marge of Roanoke, VA. And children, Kris, Kathy and Karen; a daughter, Karen Ashbaugh and husband Dwayne of Westminister, CO. and children, Kelly and Denise. 16 great grandchildren also survive her.She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary Tauscher, Anna Bongartz, Elizabeth Younker, Josie Ptaschek and Ella Roberts; a brother, Pete Lang and a grandson, Kirk Douglas AshbaughFuneral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and Friday 9:00 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. all at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th, Ellis. A Daughters of Isabella rosary service will be at 6:30 P.M. Thursday followed by a parish vigil service at 7:00 P.M. all at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trego-Lemke Memorial Hospital or Meadowlark Place at the Ellis Good Samaritan Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
