Betty Younger, age 89 of Hays, Kansas passed away February 13, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society, Hays. She was born September 2, 1936, in rural Ellis County, Kansas to John and Regina (Schuster) Augustine.

On October 17, 1953, she married Richard A. Younger at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2022. Betty was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed needlework, baking, playing card games and attending polka dances with Richard as members of the Sunflower Polka Club. Betty was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Daughters of Isabella circle #254, and the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by two sons, Gregory Younger, Wichita, KS, Terrance (Janice) Younger, Frisco, TX; five daughters Sylvia (Charles) Kinderknecht, Ellis, Joyce (Ken) Creek, Pottsboro, TX, Rosemary (Randall) Johnson, Ellis, Mary (Russell) Thom, Hays, Christine (Allen) Lang, Victoria; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Allen Younger; a grandson, Jarret Johnson; brothers, Johney, William, Philip, Paul, Eddie, Clarence, Matthew, Francis, and Joseph Augustine; and sisters, Mary Grecian, Teresa Scheck, Dorothy Weber, and Rosie Augustine.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, February 23, 2026, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until service time at the church.
