Anna Fries

Anna Marie (Hoffman) Fries, age 92, of Ellis, passed away Thursday, December 31st at the Ellis Good Samaritan Center. She was born on January 26, 1917 in Rooks County to John and Emma (Ast) Hoffman. Anna was a school teacher prior to marrying Richard F. Fries. The married on May 30, 1938.Anna was a homemaker and also worked at the Ellis Good Samaritan Center for 31 years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and WELCA. She is survived by a daughter, Rita Slama (Mark) of Janesville, MN., a son, Richard Fries of Hays, three grandchildren, LeAnn Dow (Dan) of Burnsville, MN., Jason Slama of Mankato, MN. and Stacy Lane (Troy) of Laramie, WY., a step grandson, Michael Fries of Minneapolis, KS., a great granddaughter, Makenzie Slama of Minnesota, two sisters, Wahnetta Mills (Arlin) of Ellis, and Viola Deines (Henry) of WaKeeney as well as several nieces and nephews.Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Fries, her parents, a sister, Freda and a brother, Fritz.Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ellis.The family will be present to greet friends at 10:30 until service time on Tuesday. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ellis Good Samaritan Center.
