Angeline O’Brien

May 11, 1935 — Jul 2, 2026

Ellis, Kansas

Angeline Elizabeth O’Brien, 91 years old, passed away peacefully as Christ called her to her eternal home on Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, after a 7-year battle with dementia.

Angeline Elizabeth Sill O’Brien was born to Oldrich Sill and Marie Zdonsky Sill in Nueces County, TX, on May 11th, 1935.

She grew up on a farm in South Texas with her 6 siblings and graduated from Robstown High School. Soon after, in October, she married her sweetheart, Claude, at the age of 18. A few months later, Claude was drafted into the Army for the Korean War and was stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX. Even after Claude was released from the service, they stayed in El Paso and created a life and family there together.

Angeline was raised in a family that religiously sought after God, but at the age of 20, she became acutely aware of her need for a relationship with Christ. She accepted Jesus as her Savior and sought to serve him alongside Claude, all her life. Angie devoted herself to raising 5 children and caring for her home.

She loved flower arranging and, for a time, had a business that brought her gift of beauty to weddings, churches, and homes. She was an avid crocheter and made baby blankets for almost a hundred babies at her church and for her grandchildren. She loved beauty of any kind, from the beauty of nature to fashion and jewelry. She often had rings on every finger and never had her fingernails bare. She loved decorating for the holidays and collecting beautiful things, like pottery and antiques. She also loved cooking and baking, collecting cookbooks and new recipes to try out on friends and family. She made the best kolaches and apple strudels anyone who had the privilege of trying them ever had.

After Claude’s retirement, he and Angie moved to Lubbock, TX, and enjoyed being members of Bethany Baptist Church and living around children and grandchildren. After many years there, Claude went home to be with the Lord in 2019 after 66 years of marriage. Angie relocated to Kansas to live close to her daughter and then moved into a nursing home for her last 4 years of life. She was a joy to the staff at Good Samaritan Nursing Home (Ellis, KS) who cared for her, and even when dementia had stolen her memories, she spent her days making people smile and admiring the beauty of life.

She is survived by a brother, Lewis Sill, and a sister, Mildred Lantz; one son, Ron and wife, PJ of Sachse, TX; a daughter, Karen Smith, of El Chapparal, NM; a daughter, Tricia Pritchett and husband, Chad of Ellis, KS; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Schwab, and a daughter-in-law, Vicki O’Brien; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, her husband, Claude, two beloved sons, Kevin O’Brien and David Glen O’Brien, and a great-grandson, Lucas Pritchett.

Angeline O’Brien’s Funeral will be Saturday, July 11th at 2:00PM at Lake Ridge Chapel, 6025 82nd Street, Lubbock, Texas. The viewing and visitation will be held on Friday evening the 10th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
