Alice Marie Gabel

Alice Marie Gabel, age 83 of Ellis, died Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 at the Ellis Good Samaritan Center. She was born on June 29, 1926 in rural Trego County, Kansas to Henry and Carrie (Elliot) Nejdl. She married John Joseph Gabel on April 10, 1945 in Ellis, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1996. Alice was a homemaker and farmer working on the family farm. She graduated from Trego Community High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella serving as Regent and a member of the Extension Homemakers Unit. She is survived by a son, Dennis Gabel and wife Mary Jo of Springfield, MO; five daughters, Virginia Schoenthaler and husband Denny of Ellis, Wanda Baldwin and husband Garry of Ozark, MO., Christine Gammon of Ellis, Sharon Boone and husband Don of Springfield, MO. and Angela Currier and husband Jim of Concordia, KS.; two sisters, Dorothy Miller of Great Bend, KS. and Ellen Rockwell of Grapevine, Texas; 12 grand children and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Archie Nejdl.
